ABOUT DAN DWYER
DAN DWYER is an independent theatre reviewer and host of the theater interview radio program OFF SCRIPT broadcast from WHDD, the smallest NPR station in the nation. Dan started posting his reviews in September 2014. In the summer of 2015 Dan completed a directing workshop at Yale Drama and has since worked on productions and readings at Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, MA. Dan’s reviews of musical theater in the United States, translated to German, appear in BLICKPUNDT MUSICAL, Germany’s premiere magazine on international musical theatre arts.
In 2000, Dan founded Johnnycake Books, a bookstore of rare and collectible books, located in Salisbury, CT, 100 miles north of mid-town Manhattan. A professional bibliophile, Dan is a member of the Grolier Club of New York City. Johnnycake Books is a member of the ABAA (Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America) and the ILAB (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers). Before rare books, Dan’s career was based in public affairs. He served as one of the youngest advancemen for Jimmy Carter’s campaign in 1976, and worked for the Press Office at the White House, and then for CBS in Washington DC and New York, before moving to Connecticut.
Dan’s been involved in numerous non-profit organizations in Connecticut. He’s on the board of directors of On Stage In America, an organization aimed at broadening the national audience for regional theater. Dan divides his time between Salisbury and Manhattan
